This Pirate Tower is located in Laguna, CA. The single tower is built into the side of the cliff facing the ocean. You can park anywhere and walk the coast to get to the tower. Should you want some history on the architecture, it's owners, and the like, rather than reinventing the wheel, please check out this link to such information https://www.visitlagunabeach.com/blog/lagunas-hidden-history-the-victoria-beach-pirate-tower/
It was an unusually overcast and semi-stormy day in August. The walk along the beach was pleasant. It is like every other beach in Southern California. The beauty really unveiled itself once we got to the tower. The weathered cliff was adorned by the Pirate Tower. The Pirate Tower was very much attached to, versus being a part of, the cliff. There is something ancient and romantic about seeing a structure built into and emerging from the very cliffs from whence it was erected. Coastal California possesses no symbols of fantasy. But, this Pirate Castle does ignite the imagination simply through its title. That, I think is the allure that connects this present to a distant past and attracts so many.
Once we arrived at the tower, it was in such a perfect little niche for itself. It had a corner spot on the cliff, a wide tide pool to its left, and front row to a never ending dance between the sky and sun, battle between water and Earth, chase between dark and light, keeper and sharer or secrets, giver and taker of memories, and occupying roles of both philosopher and disciple. There was no entrance to the tower. There were steps where one can see that they obviously lead to the top of the cliff and there was a heavy, ornate door that led into the tower itself. We looked inside and it was hollowed out, housing nothing more than an old beach chair.
