Montezuma's Castle & Montezuma's Well: 6.1.19

First and foremost, Montezuma's Castle is a tourist trap that is certainly not worth it. Secondly, Montezuma's well is way more interesting and dynamic than Montezuma's Castle. To be fair, Montezuma's Castle is neat to see. However, one must view it from ground level and there is not much explanation about its cultural significance, its construction (materials and tools used), the people that inhabited that area, vegetation, neighboring tribes, etc. There was a shoddy little hut that played a 5-10 minute spiel, but it was superficial information that one could quickly find on Google or Wikipedia.

Close by (short drive under 20 minutes) is Montezuma's Well. This is a giant green-blue body of water. Nothing life changing here, but there is a tranquil little walk down some neighboring steps that brings you into a small wooded area.

As always, keep detouring!
