Meteor Crater: 12.25.19

This meteor crater is a neat, but is more in line with a one and done sort of attraction. Literally, you walk in, you see the crater, you're done. Nonetheless, it is impressive. It is the the site where a meteorite came into contact with the Earth and resulted in this massive crater. It is located in the northern Arizona desert, 37 miles east of Flagstaff and 18 miles west of Winslow. Initially, the site was known as Canyon Diablo Crater. If in the area, it is worth checking out as a quick resting point. We only stopped for about an hour which gave us enough time to walk around the allotted half of the crater, talk to a woman who knows the area well to get some history, talk to one of the curators, and feel what is left of the meteor. The remnants admittedly, were impressive. The curator said it weight several thousand pounds because of all heavy metals.

Keep taking those detours!
