Heart Rock is a 1.67 mile hike in Cedarpines in the San Bernardino National Forest. It is very picturesque and was nice and crisp when we went in the early morning. Admittedly, although we were planning this to be a 1.67 mile hike, in actuality, it was about a .5 mile hike. Here's why. Unbeknownst to us, we had driven a large majority of the way. The trail on All Trails started before Google Maps, whereby Google Maps took us all the way up to the trail head, which was inside a designated campsite.
The saunter was gorgeous. The sun slipped between the trees, offering moments of something that resembled warmth. The surrounding area was worth the journey. Heart Rock itself was admittedly, underwhelming and oddly and annoyingly crowded for such an obscure location. The name of the rock is a bit of a misnomer. The rock itself is not shaped as a heart. Rather, within the rock, there is a hole that is in the shape of a heart.
Regardless, the people were friendly, it was a pleasant walk, and we were in nature. Who could complain, really.
Keep following those detours!
